Eucalyptus citriodora

Optimal ranges of biochemical composition of a good pure and chemotyped essential oil of Eucalyptus citriodora:

  • Citronellal 75-100%
  • Citronellol 6-9%
  • Isopulegol 5-10%
  • Neoisopulegol 2-4%.

General information and properties:

Thanks to its high concentration of citronellal, the essential oil of Eucalyptus Citriodora is an extremely powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic recommended for joint and muscular pain. Citronellal modulates the immune response to inflammation. Citronellol and citronellal have proven repellent and acaricidal properties, calming the effects of insect bites. Citronellal has analgesic and antispasmodic properties in digestive and respiratory muscles. It inhibits prostaglandin E2 and has proven fungicidal activity. Thanks to its high citronellal content, this essential oil has hypotensive, calming and sedative properties. Citronellol, due to its dilating action on the walls of blood vessels, favors the reduction of blood pressure. This essential oil has proven activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi.

Cutaneous mycoses

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 9 drops of Safflower vegetable oil. Apply locally 3 to 4 times a day.

General medicine

Repellent (insects)

Apply 5 drops of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in a nebulization diffuser for 15 minutes for every hour of diffusion.

Hypertension (Adjuvant)

Orthopedics

Sciatica

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower or Argan vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Sprain

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower vegetable oil. Apply locally until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day

Stiff neck

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in an amount of 4 to 9 drops of Safflower vegetable oil, depending on the pain. Apply locally until fully absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Orthopedics and/or Rheumatology

Arthritis

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower or Argan vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Joint and/or muscle pain

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower or Evening Primrose vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply for a maximum period of 5 consecutive days.

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 9 drops of Safflower vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Dilute 1 drop of Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil in 4 drops of Safflower vegetable oil. Massage the affected area until completely absorbed into the skin. Apply 3 to 4 times a day.

Contraindications:

Do not apply during the first 3 months of pregnancy. It requires medical supervision for its topical application in babies. Do not use orally. Do not apply pure topically; dilute it in a vegetable oil in a maximum proportion equivalent to 20%. Do not apply pure by olfactory route, nor by diffusion; Mix it with another essential oil in a maximum proportion between 20% and 80%. Do not apply on wounds. As an insect repellent, dilute it in Lemon essential oil. It is advisable to test the oil on the inside of the elbow to demonstrate the risk of allergy.

Unlike the essential oils of Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata, this essential oil does not contain eucalyptol, so it does not share expectorant properties with these two oils, and its contraindications are different.
