General information and properties:

Tangerine essential oil is known for its sedative, relaxing and calming properties, as well as its digestive tonic properties.

Tangerine essential oil is commonly used, facilitates digestion, has lipid-lowering or lipolytic properties by stimulating the dissolution of fats due to its high limonene content. Tangerine essential oil facilitates digestion, soothes hiccups, improves intestinal peristalsis and has a slight laxative action.

The limonene contained in this essential oil calms nausea and has very useful gastro-protective properties in situations of heartburn, heartburn, gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux. Limonene, the major molecule of the essential oil extracted from the peel of citrus fruits, suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory factors (TNF alpha and nitric oxide). It has a cholagogue and choleretic action; favors liver drainage by stimulating the elimination of toxic substances. Limonene has a hypoglycemic effect (lowering blood glucose).

Studies in the field of the bronchi, limonene, in addition to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties (decrease in inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species (ROS; Reactive Oxygen Species)), inactivates the migration of white blood cells involved in the reactions of hypersensitization and allergy (eosinophil polynuclear).

Limoneo together with Gamma-terpinene induce a decrease in cholesterol and triglycerides. The beneficial action of its compounds at the hepatobiliary level and on fat and sugar levels in the blood gives it interesting properties in the prevention and improvement of metabolic problems such as: gastric hyperacidity, obesity, dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes and overloaded liver, steatosis and bile sludge.

The beta-pinene and limonene of Tangerine essential oil combine antibacterial activity against Gram – and Gram + bacteria. Tangerine essential oil can also be used in diffusion to sanitize the environment.

Beta-pinene, limonene and Gamma-terpinene mimic vitamin P with its effect of decreasing the permeability of capillaries and increasing their resistance, contributing to blood flow, preventing accidents of hypertensive and diabetic origin, as well as a general relaxing effect.
