Copaiba essential oil is actually an oleoresin obtained from the resin of the Copahu tree (Copaifera officinalis and other species of the Copaifera genus, which is why it is called spp) within the plant kingdom it corresponds to the Caesalpiniaceae species of the Fabaceae family (Leguminosae). known as "copaiba balsam" or "copahu" [1,2].
It is highly recommended for psoriasis, eczema, and various urinary and respiratory infections. Pure chemotyped essential oil of Copaiba (Copaifera spp) has traditionally been indicated for:

REPORTED THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES: Analgesic (pain relief), anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, expectorant, decongestant, supports immune function, wound healing, relieves anxiety, aids digestion, stimulates pancreas and liver function, stress management, uplifting, aids concentration and focus, promotes introspection, encourages emotional healing [2].
Due to its high content of beta-caryophyllene (greater than 50%), it is attributed very interesting anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties to relieve pain from tendinitis, or other muscle and joint pain. Due to its affinity for type 2 cannabinoid receptors, it mimics the action of the active principles of Cannabis. Additionally, it acts at the level of the prostaglandin pathway and decreases the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines [1].

Contraindications, precautions and storage: no contraindications are known at physiological doses with dilutions in vegetable oil that do not exceed 20%. Copaiba essential oil should only be used through the skin. Copaiba essential oil should not be administered orally, or inhaled, or by diffusion as it is irritating to the respiratory tract. Avoid its use during pregnancy, lactation and in children under 3 years of age. Avoid prolonged use.
